Best Waterproof Disposable Camera

If you are not ready to purchase a waterproof digital camera, an alternative that could workout for you is a disposable or single use camera. For photography enthusiasts and kids alike these models will perform as well as their more expensive counterparts. They are affordable, convenient to use, have the same underwater capabilities and are a popular choice if you just need to capture memories for your special one-time event, vacation or getaway.

Disposable or single use specialty models are a good choice because they offer a variety to choose from. For example, the waterproof disposable model is not the only choice, but there are also 35mm disposables, digital disposables that offer digital developing solutions and wedding themed disposables. For kids, the disposables are fun for them because the exterior is covered with popular singers or groups or cartoon characters, but the camera still works the same.

The most popular manufacturers of disposables are Kodak and Fujifilm. Polaroid also has one on the market, the Polaroid Waterproof Single Use Disposable Camera. It has rugged clear housing, is waterproof up to 32 feet, and has an external flip-up viewer where users can line up their subject better while wearing water goggles.

If you’re thinking about purchasing one of these cameras, although Kodak has a good selection. The company has announced that it will be exiting the digital camera business. It appears they continue to manufacture disposable cameras. Fujifilm of course will remain in the market and has plenty of models to choose from.

What’s good about these disposables is their ruggedness, shockproofing, and water depth. For example, the Kodak Sport Disposable Camera has 27 exposures, no flash or zoom lens, and is waterproof up to 50 feet. It is encased inside a durable rubber shell and is touted as being great for situations. Where it may get knocked around or experience some rough handling. Divers and people that like to snorkel will enjoy the features of this model. Additionally, Kodak promotes its Kodak Max Versatility Plus Film as delivering crisp, clear, and quality images even when enlarged.

Other models from this manufacturer include the Kodak Max Waterproof 35mm Single Use Camera. It is waterproof up to 35 feet and is advertised as taking great action photos in sunlight and low light conditions.  The Kodak MAX Water & Sport One-Time Use Camera and the Kodak Weekend “Ultra Sport” Underwater Disposable Camera are two other models that have a water depth of 35 feet. It has a rubberized grip to decrease the likelihood of it slipping out of your hands. The models do not appear to come with a zoom lens, memory expansion, or flash.

Also, another interesting fact about these models is that they float. So, if you happen to drop it in deep water it will at least float to the surface. The more expensive digital cameras do not have this luxury and will sink like a rock if you don’t have a float strap attached to them. User reviews of these cameras were mixed. The number of negative and positive reviews was about equal with consumers appreciating the quality of the photos, ease of use and affordability.

Fujifilm, the other manufacturer of these disposable waterproof models has several choices for you to choose from. Fujifilm Quick Snap Waterproof 35mm Single Use Camera that has a waterproof depth of 17 feet, 27 exposures, and 35mm format.

Other Fujifilm models include the Fujifilm Quick Snap Underwater Single-Use Camera which is described as an all-weather camera with a water depth of 35 feet. Users state it does not come with a flash and that you can take photos in the water. But would not recommend taking them underwater.

The Quick Snap 800 Waterproof 35mm Disposable Camera can be used in and out of water. It is capable of a water depth of up to 10 feet with 27 exposures. The last model is the Fuji Quick Waterproof and Sport 35mm One Use Camera which is great for outdoor photography.

This camera has a built-in battery that provides a flash in low-light situations and a fixed focus lens that allows you to point and shoot which results in sharp, clear images. Although this model is labeled waterproof it appears to be water-resistant instead. According to the manufacturer, you can take this camera in the water where an ordinary camera might become damaged because of moisture or excess humidity.

Disposable waterproof cameras are fun to use because they are so easily accessible, kid friendly, can be used underwater while taking good clear images, but nothing that would rival those of standard waterproof digital cameras or the more expensive DSLRs.

Most users when comparing the Kodak and Fujifilm cameras gave the nod to Fujifilm as the model that produced better looking images and were the easiest to use.
