Everything about the Sony DSC TX-200V screams a top shelf high-performance waterproof digital camera. On the surface, it appears to be a photographer’s dream because of the features and the look of the camera. But what may hold most consumers back is the cost. It is an expensive ultra-compact. The manufacturer touts is capable of taking quality images and videos.

This model has a sleek glass panel face, thin as a AA battery, and stylish with a 3.3 OLED touch screen display. It is waterproof up to 16 feet and it’s dustproof. It features an 18.2MP CMOS sensor and 5X optical zoom. The DSC-TX200V captures excellent low-light pictures and Full HD 1080/60p video.  What’s great about this camera is that it is capable of shooting images and video at the same time.

Is The Sony CyberShot DSC- TX200V Worth Buying?

Over all, this camera is probably a worthwhile purchase if you’re looking for a beautiful, sleek, thin and high performer.  Most consumers that purchase this model are very impressed with the quality of the images and video. The battery life is good unless you’re using video.

The most complaints about this model, involves the cost which is seen by most consumers as quite expensive for this type of point and shoot. Further, the smooth surface on the camera is a magnet for fingerprints and smudges and if you’re not careful will show up in your photographs. Some consumers have even complained about image and video quality. Images appear to be questionable because of the use of some of the photo enhancing features on the device.

Video is an issue for some consumers because it will only record 29 minutes of video at a time. Further, one user states obtaining a horizontal line that shifts in and out on video and noted poor color saturation during video playback.

Is the Sony CyberShot DSC- TX200V worth buying? I would say yes. It has all the qualities consumers are looking for in a camera, including GPS, but it is quite expensive. It is not considered a rugged camera by most users because it is only waterproof and dustproof.  It is a great buy if you like the features and won’t be bothered by the fingerprints and smudges.
